IRNA - Mohammad-Reza Taleqani was elected as the president of Iran's Wrestling Federation (IWF) here Tuesday during a general assembly held by the IWF. Out of 38 votes, Taleqani won 22 and was officially picked as the new president of the Wrestling Federation for the next four years.
Ali Kaffashian, the deputy of the Physical Education Organization for the federations' sports affairs, headed the general assembly.
The two candidates, Seyed Massih Bahrami and Allah-Morad Zarrini, collected 13 and 3 votes respectively.
Forty-two attended the general assembly.
Kaffashian did not allow the representatives of Qom and Kermanshah to vote, for their heads of wrestling boards should have participated in the ceremony.
Taleqani, who was the caretaker president of the federation refused to vote. All the candidates were present in the elections.
