IRNA - Iran ranked world's 34th in the April edition of the FIFA/Coca Cola World Rankings, Asian Football Confederation reported on Thursday.
Despite two notches down from 32th position in the FIFA-Coca Cola February edition, Iran are still ranked the third best Asian team in the world after South Korea and Japan.
Japan's masterful performance over Korea in their 1-0 win over their long time rivals in a friendly match played in Seoul on April 16 ensured they maintained their world number 25th position.
However, Korea's position in the world top 20 is affected as they have dropped two notches down to finish at number 21 in the world ranking.
In the Korea-Japan friendly match, both teams were deprived of the European-based stars and second half substitute Yuichiro Nagai dashed Korea's new Portuguese coach Humberto Coelho of a maiden win with an injury time winner.
The win also marked the first win for Japan's Brazilian coach Zico since he took over the reins from Frenchman Philippe Troussier after last year's FIFA World Cup Korea/Japan.
