AFC  – IRAN striker Farhad Majidi has signed for AFC Champions League semi-finalists Al Ain, according to the reports in Iran and the United Arab Emirates.

The 26 year-old forward, who featured in the Iran team which lost to Iraq in the LG Cup 10 days ago, has reportedly flown to Korea Republic to join up with his new teammates, who are finalising preparations for Saturday’s encounter with Chinese side Dalian Shide

According to reports, Majidi has left his current club, Al Wasl of Dubai, and signed a one-year deal with the Abu Dhabi giants, whose preparations for Saturday’s game in China were thrown into confusion when Boubacar Sanogo, Al Ain’s Cote D’Ivoire striker who scored twice in his side’s 4-2 first leg win over Dalian Shide, was injured 10 days ago at the club’s training camp in Italy.

"I have spent a couple of enjoyable seasons in the UAE and feel honoured to play a part in winning the Asian title for the Emirates," Majidi told Al Ittihad newspaper.

"I have many friends in the Emirates and want to give them something in return. The Asian football title is for the entire nation to rejoice. I am confident Al Ain has the fire-power to win it."

Should Bruno Metsu’s side hold onto their 4-2 lead, they will meet Thai side BEC Tero in the final of the inaugural AFC Champions League.
