GOAL - Ali Karimi has called upon Iranian champions Persepolis to work with the players to bounce back from their latest defeat.

The 2004 Asian Player of the Year was distressed as Persepolis crashed to a 5-1 defeat in Qatar in midweek and doesn’t want to see a repeat.

After the thrashing, the Tehran club fined all players 10% of their salary and it did not go down well.

“Our team has problems and we have to do some restructuring. Some players have financial problems due to late payment by the management,” Karimi told Iranian media.

“I think the players need to sit down with the team manager and discuss about the current problem.”

Despite the thumping loss, Karimi believes that Persepolis can still make the last 16.

“We still have good chance to qualify for the knock-out stage. It’s better to support coach Nelo Vingada who has the right to make the decision but we have to patient.”

The Reds are still in second with seven points. The top two progress to the next round.
