In the match held in Mashhad’s Samen Stadium, Mehdi Taremi put the visiting team into the lead in the 20th minute with a header but Mohsen Yousefi equalized the match just four minutes later.

He took advantage of defenders’ mistakes in the area to equalize the match.

Vahid Amiri’s late goal earned Persepolis a 2-1 victory and the Reds returned to top of the IPL, two points ahead of Tractor Sazi.

“I am satisfied with my players’ performance since they defeated a tough opponent," Persepolis coach Branko Ivankovic said in the post-match news conference.

"Persepolis was the better team in the second half and dominated the ball possession. We deserved to win the match,” he stated.
