AFC - Iran held Serie A giants Lazio to a 1-1 draw on Wednesday in the third and final friendly of their training camp in Europe.
Mohammad Reza Khalatbari was on target for Afshin Ghotbi’s charges while Australian international Mark Bresciano restored the parity for Lazio.
Iran, who are preparing for next year’s AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2011™, went ahead in the 12th minute when Mohammad Reza Khalatbari beat the offside trap to slot home the opener.
The three-time Asian winners looked set for a victory but a blunder from Milad Zanidpour ten minutes from time helped Bresciano to score the equaliser.
The Steel Azin winger failed to clear the ball away and accidently set up Bresciano, who fired from the close range.
Earlier, Iran held Serbian club Red Star Belgrade and defeated Hungarian side Vasas SC 1-0 during their training camp in Austria.
Iran were drawn with defending champions Iraq, DPR Korea and UAE in the continental showpiece while Bresciano’s Australia were grouped with Korea Republic, India and Bahrain.
