MNA - Iran’s Persepolis was eliminated from the Asian Champions League (ACL) group stage despite a victory over Al Ittihad of Saudi Arabia on Tuesday.

Persepolis saw off Al Ittihad, who has already qualified for the next stage, 3-2 in Tehran’s Azadi Stadium in Group C encounter.
Hamid Ali-Askari netted for Persepolis twice in the 14th and 70th minutes and Shpejtim Arifi also scored for the Iranian team in the 16th minute.
 
Al Ittihad’s Mohammed Al-Rashid put the ball into back of the Persepolis’s net in the 19th minute and Persepolis defender Sekou Berthe scored an own goal in the injury time.
 
Bunyodkor of Uzbekistan defeated Al Wehda from the UAE 3-2 in another group match.
 
Al Ittihad had booked its second round berth with 10 points with one game in hand while Bunyodkor qualified for the next stage with eight points as well.
 
Al Wehda will host Persepolis next week and Bunyodkor play Al Ittihad in Saudi Arabia.
