IRNA - Bahrain Football Federation announced in a statement that it is keen to develop ties with its Iranian counterpart and welcomes holding football matches in the capitals of both countries.

Mutual cooperation is in the interest of both countries’ football, the federation said, adding that it is ready to hold a match with Iran's team on October 11 within the framework of World Cup Preliminary Contests.

The federation is also ready to host friendly country’s succor team on November 11.

Stating that political issues should not be mingled with sports, the statement noted that sports will help remove disputes and promote bilateral ties.

Sports can serve as a peace and friendship envoy between the two nations.
