Persepolis Shahrdari

TEHRANTIMES - TABRIZ, Persepolis football team came from two goals down to draw 2-2 against Shahrdari of Tabriz on Monday.

Shahrdari striker Saeid Daghighi was on target from the penalty spot after 12 minutes.

Jafar Bazri extended the lead in the 27th minute. Meisam Bao’s header hit the cross bar and Bazri put the loose ball into the goal.

Alireza Mohammad pulled a goal back in the 38th minute. His shot was deflected into the goal by Shahrdari’s defender.

In the second half, Persepolis put Shahrdari under pressure and eventually leveled the match. Ali Karimi headed the ball into the goal on the hour mark.

Shahrdari strikers created some chances in the last minutes of the match but failed to score them.

“I am happy since we had not a good start and conceded two goals but came back to tie it. However, I would rather always win but I have to confess they (Shahrdari) deserved to win,” Persepolis coach Mustafa Denizli said during the post match news conference.

Persepolis moved up three places to 7th in standings table of the Iranian Professional League (IPL), 14 points adrift of leader Esteghlal.
