TEHRANTIMES - Sepahan of Isfahan stayed on track to win the Iran Professional League (IPL) for third successive year on Sunday.

Ten-man Sepahan beat Foolad in Ahvaz’s Takhti Stadium 2-1. Mehdi Seyed Salehi put the visiting team ahead in the 8th minute but Arash Afshin equalized the match in the 79th minute after Sepahan Hasan Ashjari was sent off by the referee five minutes into the second half. With two minutes remaining, Xhevahir Sukaj scored the winner for Sepahan. Sepahan moved three points clear at the top of the IPL standings table.  

Esteghlal was held to a 1-1 draw against Shahin in Bushehr. Amjad Shokouhmagham put the ball into back of Esteghlal’s net in the dying moments of the first half with a long-range strike but Goran Jerkovic cancelled out his goal with a header one minute after the hour mark.

Elsewhere, Traktorsazi edged past Rah Ahan thanks to Amir-Hossein Sadeghi’s 86th-minute goal in Tehran’s Takhti Stadium.

Traktorsazi is third behind Esteghlal on goal difference.  

And finally Zob Ahan and Damash played out a goalless draw in Isfahan.
