Gulf News - Al Shabab club negotiations with Iranian Olympic team striker Javad Kazimian collapsed after the player and the club couldn't agree on the financial deal. Kazimian who arrived in Dubai yesterday met with the Al Shabab football committee in the evening and began negotiations.

"We couldn't reach an agreement with Kazimian because he asked for a big amount of money for the two months temporary contract which he was to sign with us to replace injured the Ali Daei," Yousuf Ozair, Al Shabab football committee member told Gulf News last night.

Ozair said they will be looking for other players from Iran, Brazil and other countries to sign with one of them in the coming hours after the Kazimian deal failed.

"Ali Daei will leave for France for medical checks and he will be absent for four to six weeks and we would like to sign up a new player in his place until he returns."

The Iranian skipper Ali Daei will be absent for the coming league matches due to a knee injury which will force him to be away from Al Shabab for not less than six weeks according to doctor's reports.

Daei suffered an injury to his knee, which has been giving him problems in the past, after the Al Shabab versus Al Ain match in the President's Cup preliminary round group (D) last month.

Daei suffered from the same injury in their last league match on Thursday against Al Ahli which Al Shabab lost 2-3 with Ali Daei scoring his club's two goals.

Al Shabab club's doctor advised Daei rest. He may need surgery, which could increase his absence from the club.

It was a big disappointment for Al Shabab who signed the Iranian national team top striker in the summer along with his compatriot Mehrdad Minavand who also plays with Daei in the Iranian national team.

Ali Daei who played with Pirozi of Iran, Hertha Berlin and Bayren Munich in the German Bundesliga before he joined Al Shabab, showed an excellent performance in his new club preparation period and the President's Cup preliminary round matches held last month.

His absence will be a big blow for the club's hope of returning to their winning ways and competing to win football titles this season. The last time Al Shabab won a major trophy was in 1997 when they clinched the President's Cup for the fourth time.

Al Shabab club's board and football committee were shocked with Daei's injury. Al Shabab will meet Al Ain, Al Ittihad, Al Jazira and Al Nasr in the coming weeks.
