Carlos Queiroz

PLDC – Iran national football team head coach Carlos Queiroz is the longest-serving coach among the top five Asian teams.

The Portuguese coach took charge of Team Melli on April 4, 2011 and secured back-to-back World Cup qualifications with Iran.

Ange Postecoglou stepped down as Australia coach in November and Bert van Marwijk was named as new coach of Socceroos in January.

Vahid Halilhodzic was sacked by Japan with two months remaining to the 2018 World Cup. Akira Nishino has been named as new head coach of Samurai Blue.

South Korea fired coach Uli Stielike last year and replaced him with Shin Tae-yong.

Bert van Marwijk helped Saudi Arabia to directly qualify for the World Cup in their last game against Japan.

Saudi Arabia qualified for their fifth FIFA World Cup and first since Germany 2006. But days after their last qualifying match, van Marwijk left the Saudi Arabia post having been unable to agree on a new contract with the Saudi Arabian Football Federation.

But Carlos Queiroz is leading Team Melli for seven years and the former Real Madrid coach is the longest-serving coach among the top five Asian teams.
