Alireza Jahanbakhsh - Albion

Theargus - Albion target Alireza Jahanbakhsh will make up his mind about his future following Iran’s unfortunate exit from the World Cup.

The Seagulls face widespread competition for the the top scorer in last season’s Dutch Eredivise after renewing their three-year interest in the AZ Alkmaar winger.

Iran were knocked out of the group stages in Russia on Monday night, despite a last-gasp draw against Portugal in which Cristiano Ronaldo controversially avoided a red card.

Jahanbakhsh’s agent, Amir Hashemi, told The Argus: “He’s just finished. He will take one or two days rest.

“There are clubs interested in him. There is nothing concrete right now.

“There are maybe eight or nine clubs, this is normal, but that doesn’t mean they will come with a very good or clear offer.

“They are talking, they are asking, they are calling.

“He wants to wait and see what is best for him. Alkmaar decide the price.”

The Argus revealed earlier this month that Alkmaar’s asking price for Jahanbakhsh, pictured, who is under contract until 2020, could scupper Albion’s interest.

The Dutch club, keen to cash in on his 21 goals last season, reportedly rate him at around £22 million.
