PLDC – Iran national football team head coach Carlos Queiroz has been shortlisted to take charge of South Africa, known as Bafana Bafana.
Bafana Bafana coach Stuart Baxter and the South African Football Association (SAFA) officials are reportedly engaged in crunch talks over Baxter’s future.
The team’s humiliating defeat against Madagascar in the Cosafa Cup has caused the SAFA Council to lose faith in Baxter and according to a report by Soccerladuma.za even caused officials to make moves to secure the services of Iran’s coach Carlos Queiroz.
Despite being contracted to SAFA until 2022, Baxter has been heavily linked with a return to Kaizer Chiefs.
On Thursday, Mehdi Taj, the President of the Football Federation Islamic Republic of Iran (FFIRI), said Queiroz will stay as Team Melli coach until the AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019.
