Sportinglife- Czech striker Vratislav Lokvenc scored twice in the second half as Kaiserslautern battled back from two goals down to claim a point against Bochum.
Entering the contest on the back of a nine-game unbeaten run and harbouring serious hopes of qualifying for the Champions League, Bochum were full of self-belief after prevailing with a late goal at Borussia Monchengladbach last week.
Things looked good early on for the visitors, who led in the 15th minute when Vahid Hashemian capitalised on a defensive mistake by Lautern defender Bill Tchato to open the scoring.
The Cameroonian international didn't see the Iranian international and lost the ball to him while trying to pass back to his keeper.
Hashemian then shot past keeper Tim Wiese, putting the ball into an empty net.
Kaiserslautern were unlucky not to pull level in the 28th minute when Nenad Bjelica's free-kick hit the crossbar. And they were frustrated further a minute before half-time.
Bochum took command when a stray cross into the Kaiserslautern box wasn't well defended and ended up in front of the feet of Dariusz Wosz. He fired the ball home from close range to double the advantage.
But Kurt Jara's side have been playing better of late with two victories in their last two matches and they cut the deficit in half 10 minutes after the restart.
Bochum keeper Rein van Duijnhoven failed to hold on to the ball after a shot from distance by Bjelica, and Lokvenc pounced, scoring with a well placed shot into the lower right corner for his third goal of the season.
He had his second not longer after.
In the 64th minute, Van Duijnhoven was taken by surprise as Lokvenc took aim from 20 yards, the ball sailing into the top left corner.
It is the first time that Lokvenc had scored twice in a match in nearly two years.
Kaiserslautern, who bossed the second half, even had a chance to win when a Bjelica shot from 20 yards out was well saved by the Bochum keeper.
The dropped two points is costly for Bochum, who are now five adrift of third-placed Stuttgart in the final Champions League qualifying place.
As for Lautern, who began the season with a three-point deduction for a breach of licensing rules, they have 28 points - three more than third-bottom Hannover.
