Karim Ansarifard could leave Nottingham Forest for Aris Thessaloniki

HITC - Karim Ansarifard has scored just one Championship goal since joining Martin O'Neill's Nottingham Forest from Greek Super League giants Olympiakos.

Karim Ansarifard could leave Nottingham Forest and return to Greece at the end of the season, according to SDNA.

Forest fans had big hopes for the Iranian international, who joined on a free transfer from owner Evangelos Marinakis’s ‘other club’ Olympiakos back in September after a protracted saga.

After all, Ansarifard netted 18 goals in 27 games for the Super League outfit last season.

But the 28-year-old’s time at the City Ground has been largely forgettable. He has scored just one goal in the Championship, coming in the recent 3-0 thrashing of Hull City, while eight of his nine appearances have come from the bench.

As a result, it is uncertain whether Ansarifard will still be a Forest player next season with manager Martin O’Neill preferring other options in attack.

SDNA reports that Aris Thessaloniki would jump at the chance to bring the former Osasuna forward back to Greece should the opportunity arise.

Ansarifard is currently under contract at Nottingham Forest until 2020, while the two-time European champions have the option to extend that deal by a further 12 months.
