PFDC-The Supervisor of the Iranian National Team, Mohammad Ranjbar, gave a news conference on Tuesday, April 23 in which he outlined the forthcoming friendly games that Team Melli will play.

Stressing the reason of the friendlies as a useful tool to experiment new players and underline and discover weaknesses, Ranjbar also added that Iran will participate in the West Asian football games in Syria in order to shortlist a group that will travel to Pusan to defend the Asian Games gold medal in autumn. Besides the West Asian competition in Syria, Iran will also play three friendlies, against Kuwait, Ukraine and Uzbekistan. The game against Kuwait shall be played in Kuwait City on May 30, and it will be part of farewell celebrations for a Kuwaiti National Team member who retires after that match. The remaining friendlies shall be played in the Azadi stadium. The game against Ukraine looks likely to be played on August 21, while no date is yet known for the games against the Uzbeks. In all of these three friendlies, special attention will be given to young talents that did not hitherto play any game with Team Melli.

Ranjbar finally added that his job as supervisor of the National Team will soon expire, and that a committee that will include "experts and well known football personalities" will take over, and that work in in progress to find suitable candidates for membership in the committee.
