AFC - Emad Mohamed is making waves with his hot goal-scoring streak for Sepahan in the Iran Pro League and is determined to rack up the most goals this season.

The Iraqi livewire is currently leading the chart with 16 goals, two of which came in Sepahan’s imperious 5-1 mauling of Saipa in the last match.

“I would like to win the top goalscorer award as I was close to winning it last season,” the 27-year-old striker told Qatari magazine Estad Al Doha.

Mohamed said he wants to bag the top goal-scorer prize in style by breaking the current record of 22 goals by Reza Enayati, the highest in a season.

“I want to set a new record,” said Mohamed in another interview.

“I am looking to win the league title with Sepahan. The next match against Zob Ahan on February 17 will be decisive,” asserted the Iraqi who joined the club four years back and won the Hazfi Cup thrice.

Sepahan, finalists of the 2007 AFC Champions League, lead the league table after 26 rounds, garnering 52 points from 25 matches. Zob Ahan are second with 46 points from the same number of games.

Mohamed said he was open to offers from other clubs.

“I am happy playing in Iran but at the same time I am not averse to gaining a new experience. I always get offers from countries like Qatar, Saudi Arabia and UAE,” said the hero of Iraq’s 2004 Olympics campaign.

“My contract with Sepahan finishes at the end of this season but they have already asked me to renew. But for the time being I am concentrating on the matches of the league.”

Incidentally, Sepahan on Monday announced they would be signing a new Brazilian striker, which could be a cover for Mohamed in case he decides to leave.
